Acharya: Absolutely there is no difference between PGDM and MBA legally and technically from AICTE point of view. Business Schools offering PGDM Porgrams and whereas Universities and its affiliated Colleges offering MBA

Top 50 Business Schools in India offer PGDM and not MBA. All IIM’s, XLRI, MDI, TAPMI, BIMTECH, Great Lakes, Vishwa Vishwani and other leading Business Schools are offering PGDM and NOT MBA

The curriculum of the PGDM and MBA degrees are equivalent, although the MBA degree is examination oriented and concentrates on theoretical aspects of management whereas the PGDM is industry-oriented and mainly focuses on building soft skills. While an MBA curriculum is designed by a university, a PGDM course gives freedom to the institute to design its own curriculum. This is sometimes beneficial to the students because institutes can change the curriculum as per the industry requirements and changing business environment. A university affiliated program will essentially follow the university guidelines and changing this curriculum is a very slow process.

Before deciding you should take note of the fact that the leading PDGM institutions provide good industry exposure and the MBA schools provide quality MBA at lower budget.

Acharya: The approval information can be obtained from respective Institution and/or AICTE and all the students are advised to obtain a copy of AICTE approval to know the approved intake, course and approved location of the Institution B-schools make various promises including free Lap Tops, free foreign study tours, high scholarships, guaranteed placements and many more.
Acharya: Students must be beware if they are going to take your final Admission decision on the basis of these tall claims, these are only attract students for admissions, nothing is free in this commercial world. This just might be a marketing gimmick and can turn out to be a trap for you to take admission to a particular B-school. Your heavy reliability on such claims may leave you disappointed as once you get into the B-school, the institution may argue and interpret its claims differently from what it looked in its first impression.

While some B-schools genuinely mean their promises and offer and stand by it after admitting students into their MBA programs, many B-schools just use these promises as a bait to get students into their fold and fill their seats. MBA is offered by Stand Alone Institutions and Engineering Colleges, which one to opt for good education.
